On 25th and 26th May 2016, TIMON project partner GEOX travelled to Brussels, Belgium, to take part in the Geo IoT World conference. At the event TIMON delivered a presentation and hosted an exhibition booth, spreading the word about the TIMON project and interacting with interested stakeholders.
The TIMON presentation focused on the use of sensor data to increase traffic safety and support civil engineering. The presentation explained the links between traffic characteristics and road geometry, as well as the acceleration data from sensors and road quality. The presentation also introduced the new Map and Navigation SDK for smartphones, which is a key part of the TIMON project and the applications and services that TIMON will deliver.
Geo IoT World this year was attended by more than 200 people. The event is not simply a conference, but also serves as an exhibition and testbed for the newest location-aware technologies and use cases at the intersection of the Internet of Things (IoT), location and analytics. Geo IoT World this year revolved around five key themes: (1) retail & marketing, (2) smart home, (3) smart city, (4) enterprise, and (5) transport/automotive.
